My name is Oscar Jonsson and I am founder and Director of Phronesis Analysis and research director at the Center for the Governance of Change (CGC) at IE University. I have over a decade of experience from working in academia, armed forces leadership, and think-tanks including 2,5 years in management positions.

I am researching Russia and contemporary warfare, cyber, disinformation, and geopolitical risk (full list). I am the author of The Russian Understanding of War (2019, Georgetown University Press), which have received several awards and are used in several higher military education programmes. I hold a PhD and an MA (Distinction) from the Department of War Studies, King’s College London.

I was in 2020-21 director of the CGC which is a research centre with nine research programs on emerging technologies and their impact on the world including: The New Digital Domain, European Tech Insights and the Future of Higher Education. I ran research and executive education for international organisations (G20, WEF, the UN) and companies (IBM, Santander). Before that, I was director of the Swedish think-tank Stockholm Free World Forum, a subject-matter expert at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters and a visiting researcher at UC Berkeley.
